Actually Subbuteo: "10 FOR YOU" with the new born SC Berlin !!

Our Subbuteo people interviews are having such a great success of views that we are considering to dedicate the entire website to it or maybe creating a new one :D ! Well it is too early but if we will find some sponsors we might decide to make Actually Subbuteo something bigger but let's grow up together step by step!

This week we introduce you a Subbuteo Club in Berlin for our "10ForYou" !

SB Berlin  founders 

1) Who are you, Where are you from and how's your life related to Subbuteo? 

We are 4 guys, 2 from Italy and 2 from Germany. 

Alberto is from Napoli in Italy and Fabrizio is from Rome in Italy, both were  used to play Subbuteo as kids in the 80's and 90's mostly on the floor. Nico is a 43 years old male from Berlin, Germany. Addicted to the game since he was twelve years old. The usual ups and downs with regard to Subbuteo but it's a true love so it never disappeared and currently it's one of his main interests again.

Erik is fairly new, Nico showed him the game few years ago. All of us just recently got back to the game.

1)Chi siete, da dove venite and com'e' la vostra vita correlata al Subbuteo?

Siamo 4 ragazzi, 2 Italiani e 2 Tedeschi. Alberto e' di Napoli e Fabrizio di Roma ed entrambi giocavamo a Subbuteo da bambini negli anni 80' e 90' principalmente per terra. Nico e' un uomo di 43 anni ed e' di Berlino, Germania. Un addicted del gioco da quando aveva 12 anni. I soliti alti e bassi riguardanti il rapporto con il Subbuteo ma e' vero amore dunque non sparisce mai totalmente e attualmente e' una delle sue attivita' principali. Erik e' uno nuovo avvicinatosi al Subbuteo grazie a Nico quando gli ha mostrato il gioco qualche anno fa. Tutti noi ci siamo riaccostati al Subbuteo di recente.

2) What's your first memory about Subbuteo ? (your first time)

Alberto: mine is in 1984 circa, I was 9. My cousin showed me this new game his father bought for him an his brother, I was amazed by the green pitch and the LW red and blue teams....Shortly after I was able to buy a team and custom make a pitch and goals because I couldn't afford original ones. But my strongest memory is from about the same period, maybe a bit later, a highly contested match between my cousin ( Italy ) and I ( Spain ) goes to penalties. We got to the point were I am taking what it can be the decisive one.... I flick the player, he strucks the ball that rolls towards the empty net to a corner...in this very dramatic moment my granpa, from his armchair, throws a pillow on the field ( we were playing on the floor ), the pillow hits the goal a fraction of second after the ball enters it....the game was called off. To this day I swear it was goal and I won the match.

Nico: Playing it with my sister's boy-friend when I was twelve years old. I was hooked by the view of the 1970's Club Edition, the Heavyweight boxes, the fence surround, the Trainer and Manager figures etc.

2) Qual'e' il tuo primo ricordo del Subbuteo? (La tua prima volta)

Alberto: Il mio e' del 1984 circa, avevo 9 anni. Mio cugino mi mostro' questo "nuovo" gioco compratogli dal padre per lui e suo fratello e ne rimasi estasiato soprattutto dal verde del campo e dalle due squadre LW rossa e blu. Non molto tempo dopo quel momento non potendo permettermi campo e porte originali li feci da me e comprai una squadra. Il mio ricordo piu' forte fu una partita tra mio cugino (Italia) ed io (Spagna) ai rigori! Arrivammo al punto che io avevo la chance del rigore decisivo. Un colpo al giocatore e la palla che rotola verso l'angolino... in quel drammatico momento mio nonno dalla sua poltrona lancio' un cuscino sul campo ( stavamo  giocando sul pavimento). Il cuscino colpi' la porta proprio nel momento in cui la palla aveva appena attraversato la linea di porta ed il match fu dichiarato concluso! Ad oggi giuro che era goal ed ho vinto quella partita.

Nico: Giocavo con il ragazzo di mia sorella quanto avevo 12 anni. Era rimasto folgorato alla vista della Club Edition del 1970, dalle scatole delle squadre HW, dalle recinzioni del campo, le figure del manager e trainer, etc.

3) Are you a Subbuteo Collector or you prefer to play it ? 

Alberto: both, I collect mostly HW teams but I would like to have vintage sets, I also like modern material as long as it looks good.

Nico: First of all I'm a collector who's expanding his interest in the beautiful game a step further by actually playing it.

3) Sei un collezionista di Subbuteo o ti piace piu' giocarlo?

Alberto: Entrambe le cose. Collezioni maggiormente le squadre HW ma mi piacerebbe avere dei vecchi set. Mi piace anche qualcosa del Nuovo Subbuteo a patto che sia bello visivamente.

Nico: Prima di tutto io sono un collezionista che sta espandendo il proprio interesse nel Subbuteo facendo un passo in piu' giocandolo.

4) Did you ever take part in Subbuteo events ? If Yes which one ? also where can we buy Subbuteo Items in your city ? Addresses are

Alberto: not really, before founding the SC Berlin I was use to play with the Budapest Subbuteo club every time I was in town. In Berlin the only way to buy Subbuteo items is online as Germany doesn't have distribution, hopefully this will change in the future because delivery is kinda expensive. 

Nico: One time participant in the annual Championships of Northern Germany. No Subbuteo at all in the German shops. The (very) occasional find at car boot sales though.

4) Hai mai partecipato ad eventi Subbuteo? Se SI quali? Dove possiamo comprare oggettistica Subbuteo nella tua citta'? Indirizzi sono apprezzati da chi ci segue!

Alberto: No. Non ho mai partecipato pero' prima di fondare il club SC Berlin giocavo con il Budapest Subbuteo Club ogni volta che capitavo da quelle parti. A Berlino puoi solo comprare Subbuteo su internet perche' non c'e' distribuzione, si spera che qualcosa cambi in futuro perche' le spese di spedizione sono sempre care.

Nico: Ho partecipato una volta al Campionato della Germania del Nord. Non ci sono negozi di Subbuteo in Germania. Puoi trovare occasionalmente qualcosa nei mercatini.

5) Tell us something about your Subbuteo life.

Alberto: I am 42 now. I started playing when I was 9, played until 14 more or less with friends or alone. Got back to the game around the age of 36 mostly playing solo or when I was in Budapest at the local club. This year ( 2018 ) I finally managed to found a club and play on an almost weekly base. When I have time I still do solo-tournaments and post pics etc online, but with a third kid on the way time is scarce.

Nico: Mainly solo-play in my teenage days complemented by heavy collecting. A few short spells of actually playing the game at club level. Now newly ignited collecting ambitions and co-founder of a Subbuteo club together with some really cool guys who are kindred spirits.

5) Diteci qualcosa riguardo la vostra vita ed il Subbuteo.

Alberto: Ho 42 anni adesso. Ho iniziato a giocare al Subbuteo quando avevo 9 anni, giocato fino all'eta' di 14 anni con amici o da solo. Ho ripreso a giocare all'eta' di 36 anni per conto mio o a Budapest nel loro club locale. Quest'anno sono finalmente riuscito a fondare un club e giochiamo quasi ogni settimana. Quando posso faccio ancora qualche torneo-solo ma con un terzo bimbo in arrivo il tempo scarseggia!

Nico: Principalmente tornei-solo quando ero un ragazzino in aggiunta ad una grande propensione a collezionare. Piccoli periodi in cui ho giocato a livello di club. Adesso nuovamente infervorato dal collezionismo e co-fondatore di un club Subbuteo con alcuni ragazzi molto interessanti e di buon animo.

6) What's your favourite team ?

Alberto: I am a SSC Napoli obsessed fan. Actually my passion for this club goes even beyond obsession, it is a faith.

Nico: Liverpool FC

6) Qual'e' la vostra squadra preferita?

Alberto: Io sono un tifoso sfegatato del Napoli. E' piu' di un'ossessione, e' fede!

Nico: Liverpool FC !

7) Which one is the rarest Subbuteo team for you ?

Alberto: mmm hard to say, I do like the HW Special Teams a lot, right now I got a thing for HW ref.176 Zaire though...

Nico: I'm not very much into teams but in accessories and boxed sets. So I'd go for C115 Subbuteo Tie. Never seen one in reality.

7) Qual'e' la squadra Subbuteo piu' rara secondo te?

Alberto: Difficile da dire. Mi piacciono molto le squadre speciali HW. Al momento ho un debole per la HW ref. 176 Zaire ..

Nico: Non sono molto attratto dalle squadre ma maggiormente negli accessori ed i set completi di scatola. Direi il C115 Subbuteo tie. Mai vista una in vita mia!

8) When did your Subbuteo club start ? 

It was founded the 1st of January 2018

A: Of course I do, that's the fun part of it, pretending to be one.

Getting in touch with other people, be it as a player or collector, who you would otherwise not have met.

Si certo! E' la parte piu' divertente pretendere di esserne uno!

Nico: Qual'e' la cosa piu' bella del Subbuteo?

Entrare in contatto con altre persone, da giocatore o da collezionista. Persone che altrimenti non avresti mai incontrato.
